Well our weekend really started on Thursday night. We went to the Landing Zone here on Ft. Rucker with a couple of friends for trivia and karaoke. They recently started doing this every Thursday night. It starts at six but we didn't get there until 8 and had already missed the first two rounds of trivia. The way it works is that there are three rounds of trivia. In between each round, while they grade everyone's trivia sheet, they do karaoke. It is so much fun! There is such a mix of people that sing. There are hilarious one's that can't really sing but pick excellent songs such as "Total Eclipse of the Heart" and then some are actually really good! I think everyone should try it out sometime. You don't have to sing or play trivia if that's not your thing, but just watching everyone is enough entertainment in itself.
Friday night was Oktoberfest on Ft. Rucker. I had never been to an Oktoberfest celebration before and this one definitely made me want to go every year! It was a great place to meet up with all of our friends. Of course there was all the beer, bratwurst, and sauerkraut anyone could want. They also had local vendors with tents and kids activities. What would Oktoberfest be without a German Polka band? The band was really fun and kids seemed to love to dance the polka! Fort Rucker really knows how to throw a party!
Sunday afternoon I drug Jason with me to the GOP BBQ that was help at the Enterprise Civic Center. Now it doesn't matter which party you belong to; this was a neat event for anyone. There was food, some entertainment, but the main event was the many candidates that were there to speak. They had candidates ranging from school board nominees, judges, and the candidate running for Lt. Governor. It was a great opportunity to hear what each candidate was about and what they would like to do for the area and for the state. I would really like to find out if the local Democrat association will be putting something like this together so that everyone could hear both sides. No matter what your party affiliation I think these kind of events are important to attend. It was such a wealth of information. It is important for everyone to get involved with what going on in their community, their state, and their country. Know your candidates and get out and vote this November!
I believe I have the southern charm but will have to learn about "midwestern values" while we are living in Junction City, KS. I've never lived outside of the south before so this will all be new to me!

My challenge for the week!
I'm always excited when I'm given a new assignment at work. I've learned so much in the past couple of weeks and I'm still hungry for more! So my newest assignment is to look at 5 houses per day. I don't know about you but I think it sounds more like fun than work. I looked at 5 houses yesterday and today I ended up looking 7 since we also had a property tour and the whole office went and looked at two of the homes. If I wrote about all of them you might get mentally exhausted but I think I can tell you about one of my favorites!
This home is at 410 Dixie Drive here in Enterprise. It's a 3 bedroom, 2 bath home listed at $105,00. I was so impress with how adorable this home is! It has all tile floors and a really nice kitchen. For that price I expected to walk into something that needed a lot of work but this house is move in ready and you wouldn't have to do a thing to it! It would be a perfect starter home for a new family. If you know anyone that would be interested you can tell them to call Martha Riley at (334) 313-8266.
I'm still learning my way around Enterprise and everyday I discover something new. Yesterday I found a hidden gem of a neighborhood. Here in Enterprise we have a lot of new neighborhoods that have been constructed in the last few years. New construction is fantastic but sometimes an established older neighborhood can be just as attractive. Valley Hills is just such a neighborhood. I was looking at a listing yesterday at 315 Oakwood Drive and was awed by the amount of beautiful trees that give this neighborhood a secluded cozy feel. Most of the homes are older but have aged gracefully and give the neighborhood a charm that only time can achieve.
I hope everyone remembers that Friday is Oktoberfest here on Fort Rucker! It's from 4:30 till 9:30. There will be food, beer, and activities for the whole family! My husband and I are going and Becky Hancock Realty will have a booth set up as well. If you can't make it I'll fill you in on how it went this weekend! and I can't wait to look at more homes tomorrow!!

Welcome to Fort Rucker!!
Every month Fort Rucker hosts a welcome breakfast at The Landing on post. They provide breakfast and there are many local businesses there to tell newcomers about the area and to offer their services. I missed out on going to this when we first moved here but I went today with some of my co-workers at Becky Hancock Realty. It was a really neat gathering and I think it is beneficial to anyone who is new to the area. I can't wait to start going every month and welcome new people to fabulous Fort Rucker!
My first blog post! Hooray!
I've been curious about the world of blogging for some time now and with all the new things that are going on in my life I figured it was time to start one. Who knows how many of you are interested in what goes here in LA (lower Alabama for those not in the know) but I may be surprised.
Jason and I are living here in the Fort Rucker area so that he can complete helicopter flight school. While he is doing that I want to accomplish something for myself. So I decided to get my real estate license and I am now working at Becky Hancock Realty. I love my job so far and I am really excited to help other military families find a home here in the Enterprise area.
When we first knew we were moving here I was a little apprehensive about Alabama in general. After a month here my mind was totally changed. I love it here! It really has become Sweet Home Alabama to me. I was really surprised at the amount there is to do in the area. There is always something going on at Fort Rucker not to mention all of the lakes and the beach that is just an hour and a half away. Through my blog I hope to share not only what's going on with my job but our adventures and the shenanigans we get into down here in LA!
