We haven't done any work on the nursery yet but that will soon change. Jason is going out of town for a few weeks and while he is gone my mom will be visiting. I'm think while she's here we will tackle the babies room! Or at least do as much as we can. Our crib has been ordered but is out of stock until mid June. Here's hoping we get it in sooner rather than later!!
Southern Charm and Good Midwestern Values
I believe I have the southern charm but will have to learn about "midwestern values" while we are living in Junction City, KS. I've never lived outside of the south before so this will all be new to me!

Holy cow we own baby things!
Up until this past weekend we haven't done much shopping for our baby girl. We've only purchase a few outfits and had a couple of things friends have given us. Well August is fast approaching and it was time for us to get some shopping done!

This past weekend there was a post wide yard sale on Ft. Riley. We had a feeling this would be the perfect opportunity to grab some baby gear and boy were we right! We ended up with a car load. We found a pack n play, stroller, swing, bouncer, and a few clothing items and books. For now everything is sitting in her room until we are ready to figure out where everything will go.

Wyllie Family Update
So I had every intention of keeping my blog updated after we moved so people could see what we were up to in Kansas. Well we moved in and like a second later the holidays hit, we found out I was pregnant, and I spent the next couple of months terribly sick and blogging became the last thing on my list. So not that I am feeling much better, I am going to try and give a summary of what we've been up to the last couple of months.
I'll start with the biggest event going on right now. Our baby girl! At the moment I am 21 weeks and 4 days along and she is due to arrive August 9th. We had a gender ultrasound a couple of weeks ago when my mom was in town where we found out we were expecting a little girl. This past Friday we had our official anatomy ultrasound at the doctors office that confirmed we were having a girl. The ultrasound tech was so nice and even played around with the 3d scan to get us a picture of her face. We are still wrapping our minds around the fact there really is a baby in there! I think my ever expanding baby bump really makes this real for Jason. That and the fact this girl is quite the tap dancer in there and we love to feel her move!
Even though we bought a brand new house we still have lots of projects going on. We have always hated carpet and decided to go ahead and start replacing it with laminate flooring. Jason read up, googled, and youtubed, and came to the decision that he could install it himself. So far he's done an excellent job but it has been slow going since he only works on it on the weekends. The basement is almost done!
Jason has also been working incredibly hard on our yard the past couple of weeks. When we moved in the yard was only seeded. So now that spring is here, Jason has been fertilizing, reseeding, and killing weeds. He is very committed to making our yard the best in the neighborhood and it is well on it's way!
Since we did move, you might be wondering what we think of Kansas so far. Well, we are loving it! Jason spent our first winter here starting to bow hunt and it looks like this will be a new hobby for him every winter. We have been really enjoying the area and having fun finding new places to eat and check out. The weather has been warming up so we have been about to take the boat out quite a bit. Lake Milford is fantastic! It is huge and gorgeous, with lots of fish that we've never seen before. Jason is having a great time researching the best ways to catch the walleye and white bass they have here. I am really excited to be out swimming on the lake this summer to escape the heat!
I think that's a pretty good update. I am sure I missed things that I might remember and add later. We have several future projects that I will try to keep y'all informed of. We have a nursery to start on, landscaping to do, floors to finish, and a guest room and basement to furnish and decorate. Hopefully we will have all this done by August!

Countdown to Moving
During those two years we have made some amazing memories. Beach trips, days at the lake. lunches. brunches, and many dinners with the wonderful friends we made here. I don't know if our experience would have been half as memorable as it was without our friends. With the excitement of moving comes a lot of goodbyes. Sadly we don't get to take our friends with us and have to say "so long for now" to many of them. I love that aviation is a small community and that it is very likely that our paths will cross again. It is also exciting to know that I have friends all over the country that I can visit!
We have high hopes that Ft. Riley, KS will be just as memorable as Ft. Rucker. We've bought our first home there and are looking forward to putting down some temporary roots for the next 5-6 years. The first year it going to be interesting since we are not used to ice or snow but I am ecstatic about the milder summers that come with that! I will try to be good about posting all of our new adventures in the midwest!

New Year and a Fresh Start!
I made it through the holiday's alive and now it's time to start a brand new year. So many things happened in 2010. We've really made a home here in Alabama and I've made some fantastic friends. Jason has gotten started flying helicopters and I started a career too. I love real estate! I am so glad I started working here at Becky Hancock Realty. I have made so many friends in this business and love all of the people that I get to meet because of my job! Well 2011 is a new year and I am excited about all of the possibilities it holds. In the new year I plan on working hard at my job and playing hard with all my wonderful friends! I can't wait for spring break when my family gets to visit and I am looking forward to our second summer with our boat!
I hope everyone's new year is as wonderful as they want it to be and thank you all for making 2010 a special year. I don't know what I would have done without the support of my family and friends this past year.

Hooray! Sold My First House!
I have been working in real estate for about three months now and I just closed on my first house! Some might think three months sounds like a long time to be working and just closing a deal, but in the world of real estate it is actually amazingly fast!
This first sell has totally solidified my decision to be a real estate agent! I have loved working so far and I am really excited because I have a few more leads and I am ready to sell more houses! Working at Becky Hancock Realty has been a wonderful career decision!

A little piece of nostalgia: Drive in Movies!
I know many of my friends around here have been to the drive in movie theater but I know there are some of you that have not heard about it or haven't been. It is definitely something everyone should check out. With a military I.D. it is only $5 per person and it is always a double feature. That is a steal when compared to going to a normal theater and paying $8 + per person for one movie. The movies change often so there is usual some variation from weekend to weekend. It is the Continental Drive-In, in Wicksburg, Al. If you are on 84 going to Dothan it will be on your left. You can't miss their huge sign! You can check out their web site at http://www.continentalcinemas.com/index.htm

Why Wait?! Just Jump In!!
I've noticed in the last couple of weeks that there are a lot of renter's out there that are thinking of buying but are afraid to take the plunge. I know that the market scares some but some of the fears I am seeing are unfounded in this area. Take a step back from the television and the news paper and call a local real estate agent. They know your area better than any news company does. They can advise you weather it is a good time to buy in your area. Don't be afraid to get educated! It just might be the perfect time to buy! It never hurts to ask!
